Roanoke Rapids-
Edward Lee Taylor, Sr., 71, died May 19, 2014, at Northampton Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Jackson.
Mr. Taylor was born in Halifax County, June 29, 1942, to the late Bud Taylor and Hattie Mae Harris Taylor. He was a member of The Little Country Baptist Church and was a self-employed mechanic. He had a knack for making people laugh; even if he wasnt having the best day. In addition to his parents, Mr. Taylor was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Frances Taylor and his step-father, Lawrence Saunders, Jr.
Surviving are his sons, Ed Taylor, Jr. and fiancee, Kim Parrish, and Jimmy Taylor; brothers, James D. Taylor, Curtis R. Taylor and wife, Brenda, and Bud Taylor and wife, Dianne; sisters, Effie Etheridge and husband, Gordon, and Shirley Floyd and husband, Richard, all of Roanoke Rapids; his special love, Jimmie James Taylor. Also surviving is his one and only grandbaby, Faith Marie Taylor.
The family will receive friends at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service, Wednesday, May 21, 2014, from 7-8:30 pm. Rev. James Jenkins will conduct a graveside service at The Little Country Baptist Church Cemetery, Thursday, May 22, 2014 at 2:00 pm.
