Edward Lee Perkinson, Sr. 80, of 63 Stephens Street, died Saturday, October 17, 2009 at Halifax Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Perkinson was a member and deacon at Fresh Fire Assembly of God and was retired from J. P. Stevens after 25 years of service. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He loved fishing and gardening, growing the best tasting tomatoes, cooking and fellowshipping with friends and family, most of all he loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He also loved Sweet Pea his miniature Dotson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie Moore and Thelma Carter Perkinson; Sister: Hazel and Brother: Clifton.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Barbara Simmons Perkinson of the home; Sons: Eddie Perkinson, Jr. and wife Lara of Roanoke Rapids, William Perk Perkinson and wife Tammy of Aurelian Springs; daughters: Susan Gray and husband Dan of Roanoke Rapids, and Debbie Jordan and husband Dennis of Santa Maria, CA; Brother: Gordon Perkinson and wife Carolyn of Midlothian, VA; Sisters: Betsy Harris and husband W.B. of Colonial Heights, VA and Dorothy Powell of Rolesville, NC; Grandchildren: Joshua Perkinson, Zack Carter, Cole and Hayely Perkinson, Crystal and Adam Dickens, Chad Jordan and Abigail MacCarty; Great Grandchildren: Kaydence MacCarty, Emily, Grace and Ryan Jordan.

A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, October 22, 2009 at Fresh Fire Assembly of God Church at 3:00 pm with Rev. Donald Gregory officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 21, 2009 from 7-8:30 pm at the church.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Edward Perkinson, Sr. Fund, c/o William Perkinson, 10636 Highway 48, Littleton, NC 27850.
