Edward "Ed" Eugene Johnson

Edward “Ed” Eugene Johnson, 72 of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at his residence surrounded by family on Wednesday September 3, 2025.  Ed was born on December 22, 1952, in Danville Illinois. He was preceded in death by his dad Elbert “Jigs” Lovett and mom Alien Lovett, sisters Laura Doggett, Liddie Rogers and Connie Rogers, Eugene Johnson and Joanne Johnson and his fur babies “Boo Bear” and “JJ”,

He is survived by his wife Teresa Johnson, son Braxton Johnson his brothers Lawrence Lovett (Ann), John Rogers (Terri), Everett Rogers sisters Nila Rogers, Faye Rogers and Becky Rogers, brother-in-law Kenneth Knight and his fur baby “Shuggy”.

Ed was a loving husband and father; he served his country in the United States Army, he worked as a police officer for Scotland Neck, Weldon, Kitty Hawk and served as the Chief of the Belhaven Police Department.  He loved fishing, especially on the pier at the beach, street racing, working on cars and driving trucks for a living.

The family will hold a private memorial service.
