Edith Pope Barnette

Edith Pope Barnette, 88, died November 17, 2012, at Nash General Hospital, Rocky Mount.

Edith was born in Northampton County, May 28, 1924, to the late Reddick Pope and Betty Hooper Pope. She was a member of Roanoke Baptist Church and active in the Joe Story Senior Citizens Club.

Surviving are her daughters, Frances Lassiter and husband, Gerald, and Barbara Hammack; one brother, John Pope; one sister Syble Smith; two grandsons, Gerald Lassiter, Jr. and wife, Rhonda, and Michael Lassiter. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service, who is handling arrangements, Monday, November 19, 2012 at 10:00 am, one hour prior to a graveside service (11:00 am) in Crestview Memorial Cemetery.
