Edgar Jackson EJ Wall, Sr., 88, died Saturday, March 24, 2012 in Halifax Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Wall was born in Johnston County, August 30, 1923, to the late Edgar William Chester Wall and Leacy Hamilton Wall. He was a life long member of New Hope United Methodist Church and served with the United States Army in World War II where he was a prisoner of war. After serving his country, he later worked as a foreman with Rufus B. Hux Construction Company for 34 years. In addition to his parents, Mr. Wall is preceded in death by his son, Edgar Jackson Jackie Wall, Jr.; his brothers, Ilon, Milton, Elwood and Joe Wall, and his sister, Elizabeth Strickland.
Surviving is his wife of 58 years, Miriam Howell Wall of the home, one brother, Leo Pete Wall and wife, Joy of Orlando, FL, and one sister, Norma Jean Barlow and husband, Marvin of Roanoke Rapids. Also surviving are his very special sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Parker and husband, Charles of Fletcher, NC, Effie King and husband, Hubert; Chris Rehner and husband, Fred; Marie Wall; Fred Herring, and Ann Strickland, all of Roanoke Rapids.
The family will receive friends at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service, who is handling arrangements, Monday, March 26th from 7-8:30 pm.
Funeral services will be held at New Hope United Methodist Church, Tuesday, March 27th at 2:00 officiated by Rev. Sue Owens, Rev. C.J. Griffin, and Rev. Randy Martin. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
