Doc Johnson Wester

Doctor Johnson Wester, 81, died at his home, Monday, June 9, 2014.

Mr. Wester was born in Franklin County, June 15, 1932, to the late Jack and Mary W. Wester. He was a former employee of Lindale & Pine State Creamery and a member of the Roanoke Valley Rescue Squad and Davie Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of Lakeview Park Baptist Church, which is now Victory Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife Ruth H. Wester; his daughter, Sylvia W. Ford and husband Charlie. His brother-in-law, Tom J. Harris and wife Doris; sisters-in-law, Addie Stratton, Nancy H. Patton and husband Jesse; Mary H. Williams and husband Donald; and Ella H. Gums. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends, Tuesday, June 10, 2014 from 6:00 to 7:30pm at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at Cedarwood Cemetery at 11:00 AM with Chaplain Roy Porter officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to Community Home Care and Hospice 525A Becker Drive, Roanoke Rapids, NC 27870 or Victory Baptist Church 2360 Bolling Road, Roanoke Rapids, NC 27870.
