"Doc" Sanders

Darwin “Doc” Edward Sanders, Jr. 69, died June 11, 2019 in his Roanoke Rapids home, surrounded by his loving family.

Doc was born January 3, 1950 in Richlands (Onslow County) NC, the son of Darwin Edward Sanders, Sr. and Gladys Carol Taylor Sanders, both of whom preceded him in death.

He was employed as a chipper operator for Davie Tree Service and had also worked as a cook for both Hardees and McDonald’s.

Doc is survived by his wife of 43 years, Cherry Beth Moseman Sanders, of the home; his daughter and son-in-law, Wendy S. and John Howell of Roanoke Rapids; grandchildren, Gabrielle Hendrix and Xena Vick; and a sister, Donna Carol Taylor of Lumberton.

A memorial service for Doc Sanders and his wife Cherry, who followed him in death on June 21, 2019, will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, July 27, 2019 at Maranatha Baptist Church, 595 Zoo Road North, Roanoke Rapids, with Pastor Michael Little presiding.

Memorials may be sent to Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service to assist with expenses.
