Danny Lee Carter

Danny Lee Carter, 74, of Roanoke Rapids, passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at his home.

Mr. Carter was born on May 10, 1949, in Halifax County, the son of the late Minnie Ruth Pearson and Zollie William Carter.

Mr. Carter enjoyed woodworking, fishing, wildlife, birds, the ocean, boats, and generally anything outdoors.  Danny loved playing the guitar and was in a band called “The Weeds”.  He enjoyed muscle cars; his 67 Chevelle and his 32 Coupe.   He attended East 10th St. Christian Church and served our country as a member of the United States Army.

Surviving include his wife Doris Ricks Carter; his son Jason Lee Carter (Hope); and his granddaughters Brittany LeAnne Carter and Kayla Marie Carter.

A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, June 30, 2023, in Cedarwood Cemetery with Rev. Randy Martin officiating.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Thursday, June 29, 2023, at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service.  Friends may sign the online register by visiting www.hockadayfs.com.  Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service is serving the Carter family.
