Cynthia Lowe Wright, 93, died Tuesday, February 1, 2011, at Hampton Manor in Gaston.

She was born May 9, 1917, to the late Dannie Brooks Lowe and Beulah Violet Hall. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Rebecca L. Robinson, her husband, Luther Woodrow Wright, and a granddaughter, Cindy McGuffin.

The Romancos (ball team) was the girls softball team of which she was a member. The team got its name from the teams employer, Rosemary Manufacturing Company. It was started in 1935, and they went to the state championship game in 1938, staying in the Selwyn Hotel in Charlotte. It was the first time they had played under lights at a night-time game. Mrs. Wright was a retired employee of J. P. Stevens and loved music, dancing, and cooking for her family.

She is survived by her two sons, Jerry B. Lee and his wife, Audrey, their son, J. B., and his wife, Amy, and two great-grandchildren, Reid and Evan of Georgetown, S. C., and Douglas Wright and his wife, Debra, two grandsons, Christopher, great-grandchildren, Jackson, Olivia, and Amelia of Roanoke Rapids, and Adam Wright of Raleigh, her grandson, Toby McGuffin, of Wyoming, and granddaughter, Candice Chaney, of Littleton; great-grandchildren, Rebecca Simmons of Littleton, and Austin Lasuer, of Texas, and four other great-grandchildren and fifteen great-great grandchildren.

The family will plan a private service to be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
