Cynthia "Cindy" Coyne Tripp, 64 of Halifax passed away on Monday, February 9, 2026 at VCU Medical Center. Cindy was born on March 17, 1961 in Roanoke Rapids to Joseph and Yvonne Coyne. She is preceded in death by her father Joseph D Coyne, Sr. In addition, her grandparents Caudie and Lavelle Drewery and John and Irene Coyne.
Survivors include husband Franklin Danny Tripp; mother Yvonne Drewery Coyne; daughters Kaitlyn Koch (Taylor) of Virginia Beach, VA and Allison Blackman (Josh) of Darlington, NC; brother Joseph D Coyne, Jr (Pam) and sister Renee' C Humphries (James) of Roanoke Rapids; and grandchildren Addison Buff Koch and Emma Catherine Koch whom she considered her greatest blessings in life. In addition, several special nieces, nephews, cousins, and God daughter Charlene Leith of MA. Cindy cherished the strong bond shared with all of her family.
Cindy enjoyed boating with her husband on the Chesapeake Bay while sunning and reading a good book. She was an avid reader that appreciated a variety of themes, especially those centered around the coast of NC or medical stories. As recent as 4 years ago, Cindy made it a mission to learn her grandmother's passion, the art of crocheting. Since that time, she has crocheted a blanket for each special newborn in her life.
Cindy devoted her entire career to Nursing and caring for her patients and their loved ones. She began her profession in 1980 as an LPN on the 5th floor at Halifax Memorial Hospital and worked on that unit for 40 years. She returned to school becoming a Registered Nurse early in her career and dedicated a total of 45+ years to the hospital currently known as ECU Health North. With determination, she was still employed at the time of her passing. Cindy formed lifelong friendships and is remembered by her colleagues as a phenomenal nurse with compassion and a quick wit. She is highly respected by caregivers of all levels extending to physicians and leadership.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, February 15, 2026 at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service with Rev. Randy Martin officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 3:00 PM prior to the service at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service. Friends may sign the online register by visiting www.hockadayfs.com.
