Cynthia “Cindy” Diane Bissette, 63, of Roanoke Rapids, passed away on Friday, November 28, 2025 in her home. Ms. Bissette was born in Halifax County, the daughter of the late Hazel Odell and JC Bissette. She was also preceded in death by her brothers Jerry Carl Bissette and Glenn Eugene Bissette and his wife Barbara, her brother-in-law Ellis “Bubba” Williamson and her niece Patricia Bissette.
Ms. Bissette was a member of Fresh Fire Assembly of God and also attended First Pentecostal Holiness Church with her son. She loved to hear him preach. She was an avid softball player earning many awards including MVP and all conference. She later coached softball as well. Cindy was a 1981 graduate of Roanoke Rapids High School. She loved going out to eat with friends and family, going to the mountains of NC and TN, going to White Lake, bowling, and walking around the mall. Her most favorite time of the year was Christmas time. She was a huge Dallas Cowboys and Duke fan. She worked as a correction officer at Fountain Correction Center and later retired while at Odom Correctional Institution.
Surviving include her son Reverend Bryan Eugene Bissette and wife Harp, her grandchildren: Christina Rose-Grace McGillivray and Jessica Harp McGillivray, her sisters Penny Sue Williamson and Amy Marie Alston and her husband Andy, and a very special friend Dean Alston, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. She also loved spending time with her 4 legged nephew Ace who she loved dearly.
The family would like to thank Centerwell Home Health and Gentiva Hospice for the wonderful care extended to them.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 5, 2025 at Fresh Fire Assembly of God with Pastors Chris Howerton, Matthew Smith, her son Reverend Bryan Bissette and Reverend Donald Gregory officiating. Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Thursday, December 4, 2025 at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service.
