Connie Gommer

Constance Jeanette “Connie” Gomer, 80, died Wednesday, August 14, 2019 in her Roanoke Rapids home.

Connie was born in Halifax County on March 20, 1939, the daughter of Thomas Martin and Edith King, both of whom preceded her in death.

She was a member of Victory Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir.  Connie enjoyed cooking and baking was her passion.  She was also a licensed day care operator and cared for countless number of area children over the years.

Connie is survived by her sons and their spouses, Randy and Vickie Gommer, Jay Gommer, Dale and Gena Gommer; 5 grandsons, Wade Hamilton Gommer, Dustin L. Bennett, Brandon L. Bennett, Weston Trae Gommer, Zane Martin Gommer; 8 great-grandchildren; and her beloved dog, Macy.

Friends may visit with the family from 12 noon until 1:30 pm Friday at Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel.  Pastor Jeremy Kobernat will preside.

A private graveside service, to be attended only by family members, will follow.
