Clyde Hugh Garris

Clyde Hugh Garris, 87, formerly of Henry Street, Roanoke Rapids died Saturday, February 9, 2013 at Halifax Regional Medical Center.

Clyde was born September 5, 1925 in Roanoke Rapids. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. Clyde worked many years for the North Carolina Department of Corrections and retired in 1991. He lived the last seven and a half years with his son Mike and daughter-in-law, Deanna. He is preceded in death by his parents John and Mary Patterson.

Clyde is survived by his sons, Larry Keith Garris and wife Shirley of Tennessee; and John Michael Garris and wife Deanna of Roanoke Rapids. His daughters, Susan Gail Garris Mitchell and husband Alan of Roanoke Rapids; and Kimberly Denise Garris Davis of Rocky Mount. He is also survived by his brother Carl Perdue Garris and wife Clara of Roanoke Rapids and 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at Cedarwood Cemetery at 2:00 PM with Rev. Randy Martin officiating.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 12, 2013 from 7:00 9:00 PM at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service..
