Clifton "Cliff" Ray Daniel

Clifton Ray “Cliff” Daniel, 84, of Roanoke Rapids, passed away on May 30, 2023, at his home surrounded by family.

Cliff was born on September 18, 1938, on the Daniel family farm in Enfield, North Carolina to the late Clyde Ray Daniel and Lucy Carter Daniel.  He was also preceded in death by his sister Clara “Celia” Daniel Freeman, grandson Christopher Scott Ferrell and nephews William C. Freeman Jr. and Carl Dempsey Freeman.

Cliff was the former owner of Shell Furniture Company where he enjoyed a 61-year career in the furniture business prior to retirement.  He was an avid fisherman, former bird hunter and golfer.  He loved southern gospel quartet music and hosting family reunions for his large extended family.

Cliff is survived by his wife Connie Tippett Daniel; his daughters Debbie Ann Daniel (Bharat Jain) of  Wake Forest, NC and Amy Daniel Dennis of Roanoke Rapids, NC; his step-children Timothy Mark Edwards (Mary Jo) of Sanford, NC, Gregory Wixon Edwards of Roanoke Rapids, NC, and Wendy Edwards Turner (Michael) of Gaston, NC; his 8 grandchildren Timothy Mark Edwards Jr of Sanford, NC, Ashley Edwards Ashley (Brian) of Lillington, NC, Ryan Leslie Edwards (Stacie) of Roanoke Rapids, NC, Kendall Edwards of Roanoke Rapids, NC, Heather Ferrell Bailey (Brandon) of Roanoke Rapids, NC, Ashley Ferrell, Abby Dennis Bryant (Solomon) of Roanoke Rapids, NC and Carter Ryan Harrell of Roanoke Rapids, NC; his nephew Stephen Michael Freeman (Odessa) of Wake Forest, NC, nieces Janet Freeman Holdford (Montie) and Tammy Freeman Griffin (Randy) of Roanoke Rapids, NC and 10 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, June 2, 2023, at the Calvary Baptist Church, 1405 Bolling Road, Roanoke Rapids, NC with Rev. Randy Martin, Rev. Andy Sloan and Rev. Matthew Smith officiating.  Burial will follow at Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids, NC. Family will receive friends from 6:30 – 8:00 P.M. Thursday, June 1, 2023, at Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service.
