Claudius Melvin Lewis

Claudius Melvin Lewis, 82, of Charlotte, formerly of Roanoke Rapids, passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2024.  Mr. Lewis was born on August 26, 1942, in Greenville County, VA, the son of the late Carrie Walston Lewis and Kindred Lewis.  He was also preceded in death by his sister Lucy and his brothers Elton, Royce, and Shelton.

He enjoyed playing cards with his buddies, golfing, and he played softball for over 25 years.  He also served our country as a member of the United States Navy.

Surviving include his son Matthew Lewis and his wife Denise, his daughter Angela Leigh Lewis, his sisters Audrey Pierce and Jean Newsome, his grandchildren:  Rachel Elizabeth Lewis and Nathan Alexander Lewis, and many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service.  The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 12:00 PM.  Friends may sign the online register by visiting www.hockadayfs.com.
