Claudie Ellis Spence

Mrs. Claudie Ellis Spence, 78, died Monday, September 6, 2021 in the home of her daughter, Misty, in Pleasant Hill.

Claudie was born in Northampton County on July 12, 1943, the daughter of Claude Newsome and Lois Ellis.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Allen Spence; as well as her brothers and sisters.

She was a skilled seamstress that loved to sew; in her younger years she like to do furniture upholstery work.  Claudie also enjoyed quilting. She was also a “night owl” that always liked being up late.

Mrs. Spence is survived by a son, Dale Spence (Mary); daughters, Misty Spence Cornett (Ricky) and Tissy Spence (Bobby Cartwright); grandchildren, Allen, Tim, James, Amanda, Adam, Madison and Jacob Roy; great-grandchildren, Katie, Khloe and Zoey; special friend, Patsy Williams; and her faithful dogs, Buttons and Scooby.

Friends may visit with the family on Thursday evening from 6:00 pm until 7:30 pm at Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service.

A private graveside service, with immediate family only in attendance,  will be held at a later time.
