Obituary

The Reverend Colonel Charles Kenneth “Pop” Morrison, 78, of Littleton, NC passed away on Monday, August 3, 2026. Rev. Col Morrison was born on January 24, 1948 in Halifax County, the son of the late Tempie Mae Pearson and John Wesley Morrison. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Edward and Larry.

Surviving include his wife Carolyn Daughtry Morrison, his son Charles Wesley Morrison (Xena) and his daughter Mary Caroline “Sunshine” Morrison (Siobhan), and his grandchildren Isabella, Sophia, and Patrick.

Charles, a graduate of William R. Davie High School, NC Wesleyan College and Duke University School of Divinity was a Vietnam Veteran whose wartime experience shaped his calling to be a United Methodist Minister for 30 years. Simultaneously, he continued his military career in the NC National Guard eventually becoming the State Chaplain, where he supervised and mentored the Chaplain Corps for over 10,000 Army and Air National Guardsmen. Charles was awarded the Legion of Merit and the Order of the Long Leaf Pine for his National Guard Service having responded to numerous natural and man-made disasters like Hurricane Floyd and American Eagle Crash 993.

In retirement, Charles enjoyed the company of his wife of 57 years, “Sweet Caroline” and his lake home, “Toad Manor”. His greatest joy was sharing the place he loved most with his immediate family and grandchildren.

A man not defined by the many hats he wore, he lived a full life full of love and grace; a grace he firmly believed was provided for all.
