Charles Edward Chuck Libbey, 84, died at his home on Lake Gaston Tuesday July 15, 2014.

Mr. Libbey was born in Bristol, CT, December 2, 1929, to the late Edward Libbey and Doris Spencer Libbey. Chuck and his family lived in Newport News for many years where he was an Aeronautical Research Engineer for NASA. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. In addition to his parents, Mr. Libbey was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Ann Nason Libbey.

Surviving are his son, Thomas E. Libbey and wife, Nancy, of San Jose, CA and daughter, Susan A. Hollis of Lynchburg, VA; grandchildren, Lynn Lavis, Benjamin Libbey, Jeremy Libbey, Eric Libbey, Elizabeth Spurlin and Patricia Palmer. Also surviving are seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service, Thursday July 17, 2014 from 11:00 am 12:30 pm. There will also be a social gathering to celebrate Mr. Libbeys life from 3:00-4:30 pm at Lakeside Lutheran Church, 2427 Eaton Ferry Rd, Littleton, NC.

Graveside services will be held Saturday July 19, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Lakeview Cemetery in Oakland, ME.
