Carl "Cj" Jackson Brown

Carl (C.J.) Jackson Brown, 70, died November 20, 2012, at Halifax Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Brown, a man of many trades, known as a hard worker with an entrepreneur spirit, loved his family and enjoyed boating, fishing and vacationing at the beach. His masterpiece was the reconstruction of a beautiful Victorian house located on 158 and his greatest invention, his barbeque sauce.

He was preceded in death by a wonderful woman, his wife of 42 years, Essie Ormond Brown, his parents, Andrew Jackson Brown and Rae Taylor Brown, and his son, Carl Jackson Brown, Jr.

He is survived by his son, Carlton Brown, of Wake Forest; his daughters: Teresa Byrum of Roanoke Rapids and Angela Brown of Raleigh; his sisters: Ruth Brown Grant of Enfield and Delores Brown Tippette, of Red Oak; his grandchildren: Bridget Byrum, Hunter Byrum, and Collin Brown.

The family will receive friends on Friday, November 23, from 7 9 P.M. at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service, and other times at the home.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, November 24, at 2:00 P.M., with burial to follow in Cedarwood Cemetery.

Memorial gifts may be made to his favorite charities: American Diabetes Association, Muscular Dystrophy, or the American Cancer Society.
