Calvin Ray Bishop

Calvin Ray Bishop, 80, died Friday morning, November 13, 2020 at Signature Healthcare.

Born March 9, 1940 in Bethel, NC, he was the son of Robert L. and Bessie Gums Bishop.   His parents, his first wife, Daisy Edwards Bishop, and a number of siblings all preceded him in death.

Mr. Bishop was a member of Victory Baptist Church.  He was a retired textiles employee.  He loved being helpful toward others, often running errands to the store for folks, or mowing neighbors’ lawns – something he truly enjoyed doing.

Survivors include his wife, Hilda Leggett Bishop; step-children, Debra Hensley, Bonnie Jones, Randy Butler and Donald Ray Butler; his special canine friend, Bella; brothers-in-law, Donald Leggett and James Leggett; 8 step-grandchildren; 16 step-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 10:45 am Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at Victory Baptist Church, with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 am in the church sanctuary.  Pastor Jeremy Kobernat will preside.   Interment will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery.Live stream of the funeral service will be available by visiting https://www.facebook.com/carlislencompany/ .
