Billy Ray Walker Sr

Billy Ray Walker, Sr., 69, died Saturday, June 27, 2015, at Wake Med in Raleigh.

Billy was born in Halifax County, June 3, 1946, to the late Bonner Richard and Lona Williams Walker. He was a veteran having served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Conflict. In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his brothers, James R. and Clarence Walker, and his sister, Dorothy Jenkins.

Surviving is his wife, Judith Ann Walker of the home; son, Billy Ray Walker, Jr.; daughters, Tammy Overton and husband, Joseph, and Tina Walker Ogden and husband, Lenny, all of Roanoke Rapids; sister, Rena Harlow of Weldon; grandchildren, John David Overton and Sara Beth Overton. Also, surviving are several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service, who is handling arrangements, Wednesday, July 1, 2015 from 7:00-8:30 pm. Rev. D.A. Leonard will conduct a memorial service to celebrate Billys life Thursday, July 2, 2015 in the chapel at Hockaday beginning at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be made to a Disabled Veteran or Wounded Warrior Charity of ones chose.
