Betty Renn Torgeson

Betty Renn Torgeson, 81, formerly of Roanoke Rapids, died Saturday, March 14, 2020 at her home in Wallace.

Born July 10, 1938 in Halifax County, Betty was a daughter of John B. and Rosalyn Doyle Renn.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George; son, Mark Brantley; brother, John B. Renn; and sister, Emily Bush.

Mrs. Torgeson was formerly a member of Calvary Baptist Church; and was a registered nurse, working at Halifax Regional Hospital for a number of years.

Survivors include her son, Matthew J. Torgeson of Teachey; daughter, Laura Torgeson, of Freeman, VA; twin sister, Doris Harris of Hampton, VA; grandchildren, Mark L. Brantley, Amanda Dawn Brantley, Laura Lynn Torgeson and Sarah Faith Torgeson; great-grandchildren, Logan and Riley McSwain, and Savannah and Elena Brantley.

Friends may visit with the family from 1:00 – 1:45 pm Thursday at Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service, with the funeral to follow at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel.  Pastor Randy Martin will preside.  Interment will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery.
