Benjamin Franklin Irby

Benjamin Franklin Irby, 87, of Roanoke Rapids, passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2024 in his home.  Mr. Irby was born on June 13, 1937 in Nash County, the son of the late Alice Wade Irby and James Allen Irby.  He was also preceded by his siblings:  Warner “Doc” Irby, J. A. Irby and Jerry Wayne Irby.

Mr. Irby a member of First Baptist Church in Gaston, he loved sitting on his porch talking to people, taking road trips with his family and was an avid fisherman.

Surviving include his wife Carthy “Dot” Lee Lynch Irby, his daughters Vickie Irby Merritt (Gary) and Robin Irby Ezzell (Wayne); his granddaughter Megan Ezzell Curl (T.J.); his grandson Bracy Wade Irby; his great grandson John Luke Curl; his bonus son Paul Britton (Terri Lynn) his siblings:  Quetin Irby, Patricia Henderson (Ben), Sandra Edmonds (Paul), and Christine Irby Harris; and many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at 12:00 PM at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service with Minister Greg Hand officiating.  Burial will follow in Crestview Memorial Cemetery.  The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 11:00 AM.   Friends may sign the online register by visiting www.hockadayfs.com.
