Armando Gentile

Armando Gentile, 77, of Roanoke Rapids, died Wednesday, April 24, 2019 in his home.

Born August 12, 1941 in Italy, he was the son of Giuseppe Gentile and Theresa Basso Gentile.   He enjoyed healthy cooking, as well as raising plants and flowers.

After moving to the area 34 years ago, he opened and operated American Continental Wholesale Nursery in Whitakers.  Mr. Gentile was of the Catholic faith.

He is survived by his wife, Joanne DeLosh Gentile; daughter, Coleen Gentile-Hyatt (James); brothers, Dominick Gentile, George, Gentile, Joseph Gentile and Dante’ Gentile; and his beloved cat, Picasso.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Yugo and Alphonso.

The service for Mr. Gentile will be held at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, April 30, 2019 from the graveside in Cedarwood Cemetery, with Rev. Dr. Bane Angles presiding.  No formal visitation is planned.
