Arlene Shaw Smith, 81, of Roanoke Rapids, passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at ECU Health North Hospital.

Mrs. Smith was born on February 1, 1945, in Halifax County, the daughter of the late Woodrow Shaw and Elizabeth Hale Shaw. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Milton Gene Smith.

Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Teresa Smith Lewis and her husband, Stan, and Michelle Smith Skipper and her husband, Timmy; her grandson, Christopher Skipper; and her two brothers, Edward Shaw and his wife, Patsy, and Larry Shaw.

A funeral service to celebrate Arlene's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 30, 2026, at Hawkins Chapel Methodist Church, with Pastor Nancy Palmer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM on Thursday, October 29, 2026, at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service.
