Ann Tucker Proffitt

Ann Tucker Barnes Proffitt, 72, of Gaston passed away Saturday, July 22, 2023, at her home.

Ann was born March 25, 1951, in Warren County to the late James V. Tucker Sr. and Emma Moore Tucker. Ann was also preceded in death by her first husband, Arthur Lee Barnes, her children, Amy and Andy Barnes; her brothers, James V. “Jimmy” Tucker, Jr. and Frank “Lenny” Tucker; her sister, Mary Ailene Tharrington.

Ann is survived by her husband Roger Proffitt; her sister Nita Parsley and her husband David of Roanoke Rapids and Faith Bennett of Fayetteville; her brother Kenny Tucker and his wife Donna of Roanoke Rapids; her stepsons, James Lee Proffitt and Jason Edward Proffitt both of Newport News, VA and numerous nieces and nephews that she considered to be her grandchildren.

A celebration of Ann’s Life will be held at 6:00 P.M. Thursday, July 27, 2023, in the chapel of Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service with Mr. Roger Edwards officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
