Alton Dewey Coker Sr

Alton Dewey Coker, Sr., 81, died Monday, May 7, 2012 in Halifax Regional Medical Center.

Alton was born May 21, 1930 in Halifax County to the late Frank Coker and Lucy Edna Mabrey Coker. He was a United States Army veteran, serving during WWII and the Korean conflict. After his military service, he served with the Merchant Marines. After becoming a welder, he later worked with Howell Steel for 19 years.

Surviving is his son, Alton D. Coker, Jr. and wife, Connie and daughter, Lucy Marie Coker, both of Roanoke Rapids. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Rex Allen, Jr., Tim Coker, and Ashley Coker, all of Roanoke Rapids.
