Marvin Allen Butts, Jr., 71, died October 16, 2022 at ECU North Hospital in Roanoke Rapids.

Allen was born in Halifax County on November 16, 1950, the son of Marvin A. Butts, Sr. and Irene Arrington Butts, both whom preceded him in death.

He was a member of Tabor United Methodist Church. Allen spent most of his life farming. He enjoyed coon hunting with his friends, and loved to ride horses.

Survivors include his sons, Marvin A. Butts, III and wife Flora Hardy Butts, Rodney Butts; grandchildren, Marvin A. "Little Marvin" Butts, IV, Addsyon Butts; sisters, Ann B. Goodwin and Dora B. Newbern.

Friends may visit with the family from 6:00 - 7:30 pm Wednesday at Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service.

The funeral service for Mr. Allen Butts will be held at 11:00 am Thursday from the graveside at Tabor United Methodist Church Cemetery. Pastor Jason Yeatts will preside.
