Alice Lancaster Darlington

Alice Lancaster Darlington, 79, of Roanoke Rapids passed away peacefully on April 15, 2026, at her home.

Alice was born in Halifax County on July 27, 1946, to the late George R. Lancaster and Ellen Lovegrove Lancaster. She was preceded in death by her husband James “Jimmy” Darlington; her brothers, Sankey, Leroy, Donald (her twin)) and Ronald Lancaster; her sisters, Lillian Oliver and Martha Mullen.

Alice is survived by her sister, Shirley Powell, her sister-in-law, Robbin Lancaster, as well as a host of nieces and nephews. She never had any children and considered her niece, Ellen Mullen as her daughter and her nephew, Robert (Robbie) Lancaster as her son. Ellen also helped care for her and Jimmy. A lifelong friend, Susan Price Cox.

Alice was a member of Good News Baptist Church. She worked at Tri City Motors and retired from Allen’s Auto Service. She also loved to bowl in her younger days.

The family wishes to say thank you to the caregivers that took excellent care of her and spoiled her!

A celebration of Alice’s life will be held at a later date.
