Alfred Donald "Don" Hux

Alfred Donald Don Hux, 87, died Sunday, May 29, 2016, at Signature Healthcare of Roanoke Rapids.

Don was born in Halifax County, November 2, 1928, to the late Buck D. Hux and Maggie H. Hux. He was a veteran, having served his country with the United States Army. He loved hunting, fishing, and especially loved cooking. He was a gentle man and loved all children. In addition to his parents, Don was predeceased by his wife, Ann Coggins Hux, and his faithful pet, Princess, aka- The Baby.

Surviving are his sons, Al Hux and Roxanne of Aurelian Springs and Tracy Hux and wife, Bella, of Kannapolis, NC; daughter, Cindy Shearin and husband Bill of Aurelian Springs; brother, Bill Hux of Roanoke Rapids; grandchildren, Heather Cooke and husband, Jason, Brandon Shearin, Kristin Hamill and husband, Brad, Travis Hux, Eric Hux, and Philip Hux. Also surviving are his great grandchildren, Bryce Cooke, Ashlyn Cooke, Aaron Hux, and Jaxson Hux.

The family will receive friends at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service Wednesday, June 1, 2016, from 7-8:30 pm. Pastor Steve Formo will conduct funeral services Thursday, June 2, 2016, at Ebenezer United Methodist Church at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in Crestview Memorial Cemetery.
