Ada Mae Godsey

Ada Mae Matthews Godsey, 81, of Roanoke Rapids passed away Monday, April 1, 2019 at Halifax Regional Medical Center.

Ada was born October 22, 1937 to the late Bryant Matthews and Ollie Moseley Matthews. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Linda Matthews; her brother, Robert “Hardrock” Matthews.

She was a member of Gaston Church of Christ, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved Cooking, her church and playing bingo.

Ada is survived by her husband of 65 ½ years, Claude Godsey; her children, Robert Godsey, Betty Tucker, Ronnie Godsey and his wife Terri, Annette Everette and her husband Ronald and Loretta Ash and her husband Fred, Sr.; her sister, Alice Cullom and her husband Davis all of Roanoke Rapids; twelve grandchildren and twenty -five great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, April 5, 2019 in the chapel of Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service with Rev. Mark Wethington and Rev. Steve Merritt officiating. Burial will follow in Old Cedarwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Thursday, April 4, 2019 at the funeral home and other times at the home.
