Ada Hatchel Evans

Mrs. Evans was born in Brodnax, VA June 18, 1923 to the late Edward Hatchel and Sallie Tanner Hatchel. She loved her family dearly and was a devoted mother and housewife and was always there when anyone was in need of help. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Evans; two sisters, Eva Royal and Eliza Sadler and one brother, Robert Hatchel.

Surviving are five sons, Dennis Evans and wife Katherine of Durham, Herbert Evans, Sr. and wife Peggy of Roanoke Rapids, Jerry Evans and wife Linda of Clayton, Jimmy Evans and wife Linda of Roanoke Rapids and Tommy Evans and wife Ella of Clayton, and two sisters, Salley Hatchel Griffies and Sarah Hatchel Wheeler. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Chad, Herbert Jr., Derek and Terry Evans and one great grandchild, Lewis Evans.

The family will receive friends at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service, who is handling arrangements, Sunday, January 16th from 1-2:30 PM. Funeral services will follow in the chapel at 3:00 PM conducted by Kenneth Brantley, Gideon. Interment will be in Cedarwood Cemetery, Roanoke Rapids.
